Vol 2 No 1 (2025): Africa Design Review Journal

This issue of the Africa Design Review Journal presents six research articles that explore the intersections of design, culture, technology, sustainability, health, and communication in Kenya. The contributions include an investigation into how artificial intelligence can preserve and showcase Kenyan cultures in interior spaces; a case study on bagasse fiber as a sustainable packaging alternative in Kisumu County; and the development of a participatory visual health communication framework for urban informal settlements. Also featured are practice-based insights from a sculpting intervention at Oasis Mental Health Limited, an analysis of how social media influences customised furniture production by Nairobi’s local craftsmen, and an examination of semiotics as a tool for improving engagement in telecommuting presentations. Together, these studies highlight emerging design innovations and applied research shaping Kenya’s creative and social landscapes.
