Abstract

The goal of this research is to investigate the mechanisms of information sharing between the design industry and academia, in order to identify successful models and present a comprehensive framework for productive collaboration. The study takes a mixed-methods approach that includes historical analysis, case studies, quantitative surveys, and interviews. Key findings underscore the efficacy of past and present collaborations, such the Bauhaus, Stanford d.school, and MIT Media Lab, in promoting creativity and bridging the gap between theory and practice. The study finds obstacles to matching educational achievements with corporate expectations and emphasizes the significance of clear communication, coordinated research objectives, and motivated collaboration. Recommendations include establishing interdisciplinary research centers, industry-academia advisory boards, and long-term collaboration agreements. They aim to enhance the synergy between academic and industry partners, ultimately driving innovation and addressing real-world design challenges.
